The area: User Experience
We follow a simple but vital premise in the User Experience group: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." We're passionately interested in our users and strive to learn everything we can about their behaviours, attitudes and emotions to help define the products and experiences we create. The User Experience team is a critical driving force behind gathering these insights and then using them to inspire and inform design. We are a multi-disciplinary team of interaction designers, visual designers, user researchers, copywriters and Web developers who collaborate closely with each other and with engineering and product management to create innovative, usable, great-looking products that people love to use.
The role: Graphics Production Assistant (Temporary)
As a Graphics Production Assistant, you will collaborate with Marketing, Engineering & UX teams to develop and maintain Google's mobile assets. Your guru level graphics tools skills along with your attention to detail will contribute to creating consistent and accessible graphical assets specifically for out mobile products. You will work independently, but also take direction in a process-based environment. You have a well-rounded skill set including very strong graphical abilities using the specified design packages, design skills, technical savvy, great attention to detail, and proven expertise in graphic production. Responsibilites:
Following and clarifying incoming briefs and creating new graphics to existing visual styles
Maintaining excellent communication with stakeholders
Following and modifying styleguides and existing visual standards
Following and modifying the graphics production workflow
Providing and modifying graphical assets in optimal forms for planned use
Requirements:
Adobe creative suite CS3 and CSEspecially being ambidextrous in Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator, you must be able to work and understand all three packages totally.
Understanding of graphics file formats and compression
Absolute attention to detail and quality under time constraints
Ability to design new graphics to corporate standards
Proven strong organisational and quality management skills
Understanding of mobile phone development production workflows
Experience of up-scaling and down-scaling graphics
